Gaile

The problem is simply

The purpose Of HOm and what people want from it is conflicting

1) I do not care what I will get in GW2 from inheritance

2) What many people want including me is a place wherein I can see all my achivement s and trophys in 1 place. At this stage I am not trying to see what benefit I will get in GW2

But I would love HOM to summarise
1) All the minipets that my account has in 1 place
2) All the maxed PVE titles in 1 Place
Warriror - Survivor
Necro - Drunkard etc

From you post I can understand that you are trying ti justify that a single person cannot inherit from several characters .true i agree on that point

But I dont want HOM to be split upon characters

How and what benefits we get in GW2 i would leave to anet teams to break there heads for.

But for the sake of simplicity let me have an option to display all at 1 place

Otherwise ,
I log in in my warrior take friends along to HOM show them my miniptes
then I will have to tell bro wait i minute I will log in with my monk now to show u drunkard titles , wait now i needs to log in with necro to show heroes
now wait i need to log ........

When I show my friends my HOM I want tos how what I ( that me) have achived will all character in this game

HOM needs to excecute 2 things

Simplicity - That means presentable and simple

Execution - In GW2 what permutations and combinations should go so that what benefit who will get I dont care You have programmers for that

Many folks including Gaile Gray have stated that the HoM was supposed to be inaccessable for that weekend. Many folks have also stated that it is supposedly not 100% completed. Why then were people able to access an unaccessable incomplete portion of completed product which was to be released for SALE 1 week later?

I accept full responsibility for my oversight. My original e-mail to ANET was stating the fact that it was 2AM and I did not read what the button said. But one of their GM's suggested there were "several "are you sure" decision points" which is incorrect and the minute you push the accept button EVEN if it were accidentally for some folks. It goes straight to cut scene and it's permanent. I am NOT the only one who made this oversight/mistake. I am NOT blaming them for my customized mini's albeit I think it's sneaky as hell the way they are doing things. And as I stated earlier I do not believe it is very clear.

However since it is an "unfinished" "unaccessable" portion of a product I don't see why they are unable to UNDO anybody's mistake in the HoM and FIX it to some degree to keep their fans happy so that all of those who had misconceptions on how it SHOULD have been will have something to be proud of ANET for.

Honestly all I knew about the Hall of Monuments was that it was a place to display your achievements. That is it. I knew NOTHING other than that. I did not do any extensive research. I didn't even know about the whole heritage thing with GW2. I know a lot more now that I made MY MISTAKE. The hall of monuments is overall confusing and unfullfilling for most. Obviously there wouldn't be 300+ negative posts about it versus you and the other spreaders of good cheer (sarcasm implied) 20+ e-peen, you're stupid, it's incomplete, could care less, /unsigned, stick a thorn in your side posts!

And that's about all I have to say about that!

10 gold and get customized minipet of choice for that character

they cant change the database even for Gaile who deleted 3 long term characters a few days before she found out about the birthday minipets she missed by a few days.

they cannot change an account or *spoof* an account due to the design.

the dev closed servers are a different story than the main live database

A mini pet trader like the hat trader would be a fine solution to yet another mess A-hole-net have made.

They are simply crazy to think players would be fine with customising their minis.

If they didnt listen to the player community (Im 80% of cases they dont listen to us anyway), GW would have had no players left a long time ago.

People, what we saw during the preview weekend was just that.... a PREVIEW. I highly doubt it was fully complete at the time. I believe it will be completed, with PvE titles and whatnot, after GW:EN goes live.

Be patient and wait at least a couple more days before you pass final judgment on the HoM.

I dont want to disagree for the sake of it but I just think that a PREVIEW is not a DEMO or a BETA, so it should show us what the completed product will look like.. players pre-order to obtain a bonus weekend of the full game, not to be guineaa pigs/beta testers or whatever you want to call them.

Changes have occured in GW in the past on all campaigns but I cannot think of any major changes to the game, yet the HoM needs a MAJOR overhaul for it to be accepted by the vast majority of GW players.

I said this in another post, so I will say this again here to see what others think.

When we got to one of the first Norn out posts, the one with the Norn fighting arena, there was an NPC that told us that we could get a "Book" that would keep track of all our accomplishments. There was also an NPC that said the same thing at the Eye of the North (this one was Ebon Vanguard). However, they would not give us the book and told us to come back a week later to obtain it. I am pondering if this books is somehow related to our PVE titles and accomplishments that will be added into the HoM at a later time (aka after completing the EOTN game).
Just a speculation, but what do you think?

wrong on all counts.

we were given access to a small portion of the early game not the full game

and the HOM is not the game but a display case that even before the event was stated as not finished.

the vast majority of the people playing the game myself included will visit the scrying pool to look at cinematics and then leave it without a second thought.

2 years from now when GW2 goes live i will put minipets in and see what comes out of the GW2 side.

most people are playing the game not grinding titles to try to impress the few people who are impressed by pixilated items

GWEN is a game to play

GWEN is not the hom

news for you too

Anything can be programmed into this game if Anet decided to do so. Anet want's customized stuff to be able to be uncustomized then they can program it to be so. They just have no inclination at this time to spend the man hours to do so.

Customizing minipets for HoM is stupid and never should have been done at all.

I *did* read it, and I *did* customize my Kuunavang.

When Faction came out, we couldn't find a CE. I collect dragons and reptiles in real life, so my daughters went out and farmed enough money and ectos to buy me a Kunnavang.

I have no intention of giving up my dragon, so customizing was no problem at all.

Ok I have read this thread and it seems that the HoM is not well liked in the condition it was shown in over the last weekend. Personally I am going to reserve judgement on the hall until after the game goes live and ANet has a month or two to work out the bugs. However I would like to see the following changes made in that time.

1) Minipets- Customizing to a single char sucks. period. I would like someway of sharing between my charactor. I agree with making them unable to enter the hall a secound time, through customization or whatnot, but let me enter my pet and still play with it on any of my charactors.

2) Weapons - I think green weapons that are customized should be able to be enshrined. Maybe some high end golds but they should be perfect. They should also be collectable from any campaign, not just EoTN. This is supposed to show my in game accomplishments for the whole game not just EoTN.

3) Titles - What were you thinking. PvPers hardly care about crap like this. please add our PvE titles here. KoaBD is cool but not at all a berometer of our accomplishments

4) personal hall - Ok I belive accomplishments in the hall should be per charactor, and should pass from one char in GW to one Char in GW 2. But really lets make the hall a display of accomplishments across an account. For example if Alyssia enters her armor, all my charactors should be able to see it and have a plaque that says enshrined by X. But when I enter my hall I should beable to see what I have accomplished and easily show it off. That is what you sold us on.

the HoM can be fixed very easily while maintaining the idea that enshrined items can not be shared amoung friends and the inheritance goes from one charaactor to the next, while still accomplishing the idea of a place to show what we have done and the time we have spent playing your game.

I have faith ANet can fix this, pease dont let me down.

I've posted some information from the design team about the Hall of Monuments as it relates to miniatures. You can find the page here.

In short, don't despair of you've customized your miniature, and don't worry about the process of getting credit for the mini, because some changes will be made in the next few months, certainly before the end of the year.

maybe EotN needs more dev time

sounds like with 2 teams working on it, it's still being rushed out, even when this has been promoted for a very long time

it's kinda hard to consider this good news when in the span of 2 weeks we've gone from high hopes, to immense disappointment, to it's not even near working order

You could have just put a big sign that say "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" in front of the hall, y'know. Do not enter without a hard hat and all that.

The Hall is a feature that ties to Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 will not even be in beta testing until the second half of next year. What we're offering now is the early stages of the feature which, like all features, is always in a state where we can respond to player input and make even better over time.

This is not a case of something not being functional. This is a case of us being flexible.

As they say in Red Dwarf, "Don't panic!"

it was first even mentioned about 4 months ago in PCGamer.

if that is a very long time for you that is your problem

wrong as usual

it has gone from fantasy expectationg of storing everything you have in the HOM when you had been already told it would not be a storage.

as Gaile said it was not finished and IT MIGHT NOT BE AVAILABLE

that means she did not know if it would be accessable or not.

no more, no less

an opinion not any stated fact one way or the other

also the hom is the LEAST of GWEN as it wont be doing anything until GW2

this is a game you are buying with a little memento closet stuffed in a corner not a monument with a bit of landscapeing outside

I understand the back-end, rewards part of it won't be realized until GW2. Virtually noone is concerned about that now, if you read the big HoM poll thread.

The thing that more concerns me is the front-end aspects that appear to be irreversible: customizing pets to one character up-front, when we don't even really know what the outcome is. I sympathized with one forumite who didn't realize he was customizing 3 high-end pets to his character, because you earlier stated that nothing will be permanent. Also, because heroes can only be added to HoM with armor upgrades, this is forcing people to do start farming hero armor upgrades, EVEN IF they preferred the original armors. This is also a front-end, irreversible action.

So to say that things are changing may be true, but we are being asked to take leaps of faith making irreversible commitments up front, without knowing what the end consequences are.

Therein lies the paradox: use the feature that has been hyped and pinned as the great tie between GW1 and GW2, when it's incomplete, poorly conceived, and subject to change?

So... sigh

It's cool and all that other characters in your account can use them now, but, I don't see why they have to be customizeable in the first place. I understand that guildies and friends could just pass along minipets for free, so everoyne can get them in their hall, thus ruining the purpose. But now that they become customized they slowly leave the market, leaving several people without the chance to get these mini-pets. This is especially the case with some of the more rare ones, but even the price of commons will start to go up over time.

It's just sad in my opinion.

Umm, you can change a heroes armor back to it's original state after you put it in the HoM. And hell, from then on you always have the new armor unlocked, and you can switch back and forth. Hero armors are a win-win.

Note, I'm not arguing about the armors the monuments themselves have on, just the npc heroes themselves.
